  • Salford scooter gang rob man at knifepoint

    It happened at about 10.30pm on Monday 13 May 2013 when a 21-year-old man was walking with friends along Great Cheetham Street East. 

    He saw three men sat on a scooter outside the shops. The men who had their faces partially covered followed the victim on the scooter and when he began to run they caught up with him. 

    The man who was sat on the back jumped off and started to shout at him in a threatening way. 

    One of the other men still sat on the bike was holding a knife and waved it towards the victim. 

    They stole an LG optimus mobile phone and rode off along St James Road. 

    The first offender who was riding the bike is described as a white man, of slim build, aged about 20 and he was wearing a black hooded top and black trousers. 

    The second offender is described as a white man, of slim build, aged about 20. 

    He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood pulled down over his face and a black scarf which was covering the lower half of his face and black trousers. 

    The third offender is described as a white man, of slim build, aged about 20 and he was wearing a black hooded top, black pants and a mask covering the bottom of his face. 

    Detective Constable Susan West from Swinton police station, said: “Thankfully this man was not injured, but has understandably been left very shaken by the incident. 

    “These three men followed an innocent man and as he tried to run for safety, they threatened him with a knife and stole his mobile phone. 

    “I want to appeal to anyone who either witnessed the incident itself, or perhaps has information about what happened or even suspects who may be involved, to come forward."
